Architect, Richard Seidman, an Associate of the Access Australia Association of Consultants, provides an overview of the complicated new legislation. He surveys various scenarios including food outlets, factories and medical practices and discusses some of the issues that have arisen since the legislation was introduced on 01 May 2011. At this three hour workshop, architects will learn how to detail access to demonstrate compliance. Town planners, private certifiers and access committee members will learn what to look for and what reports need to state. Architects earn 3 formal Continuing Professional Development credits.
Objectives
Structure and scope of the workshop
Unlike planning law, the Access to Premises standard will not be addressed by the Land & Environment Court. Only applications for unjustifiable hardship will go before the assessment panel established to hear these matters.
