Attendance at a professional development seminar or course is the principal way of earning the necessary credits. NEERG Seminar attendees are expected to embrace the spirit of CPD by assessing for themselves whether the activities they undertake are demonstrably applicable to their professional career in accordance with the CPD policy of the ARB, AIA, PIA, or other relevant professional organisation including The Law Society of New South Wales. Even if a seminar is endorsed or accredited, attendees may be called on to justify the points/hours they have claimed. Architects Registration Board (ARB) policy states that the number of Continuing Education (CE) hours an activity accrues depends on the type of activity and its format. INFORMAL CE activities accrue a maximum of 2 CE hours. FORMAL CE activities are unlimited; they have certain format and structure requirements. Architects registered with the ARB and members of the Australian Institute of Architects who attend the entirety of a full day seminar comprising two courses are entitled to claim 2 informal CPD credits per course, as approved by the Architects Registration Board of NSW. (Maximum: 4 informal CPD credits per day). To claim 6 formal CPD points, architects must complete the take home assignment provided on the day and send their responses to NEERG Seminars. Members of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) may claim 1 informal CPD credit for each hour of a NEERG seminar attended.
